Well, it has been a tough week at DVC. This week we had a surprise visitor. Someone abandoned a little terrier puppy on our doorstep. The little one is aptly called "Surprise" and had a nasty, gangrenous injury to the rear foot which might end up needing an amputation or partial amputation. Dr. Munoz has volunteered to care for this little orphan and we'll see how it goes. The pup was COVERED in ticks as well, reminding me to mention that ticks are awful still this year. So bad that we recently had to give a dog a transfusion because of all the ticks on him. There are many new products out there that are effective and safe. Please ask your veterinarian about them
This week we said good bye to several of our patients. We share in the sorrow of the loss whether it is a planned euthanasia or a sudden illness. It is hard to say farewell.
Also, parvo is STILL a problem (it always is) but more this year than some. Please check your dog's vaccine status and call for an update soon.
Have a blessed week and stay cool.
