Well, this week was certainly eventful. We treated a beautiful Great Horned Owl for the state. A concerned citizen called and brought us the injured owl. Unfortunately for it, someone had shot it and broken a wing badly. Dr. Haugo has long been working with the Game and Fish and other state agencies on behalf of the local wildlife and she was able to bandage the wing and we enjoyed having our unusual guest all weekend until the Game and Fish folks were able to take it to rehab.
In addition to our owl friend, we were able to loan a canine wheelchair to one of our patients. She was injured and fractured her leg several months ago, but during her recovery experienced another devastating problem when she slipped a disc in her back rendering her paralyzed. We are hoping it is temporary but for now, she is able to motor around and enjoy life in her wheelchair. Remember our dogs and cats who are disabled can live full lives just like people who are disabled.
And then there was our Great Dane patient who thought she was small and needed to be on the table for her exam after receiving a laceration. She was too cute for words.
